The Perfect Website

It's hard to create a website, and it's even harder to make one that can be considered good. In todays world websites become outdated every day, so in order to be known as a a enjoyable website it requires being up to the minute with whats new and whats now. Think about it this way, about 5 years ago people had to decide what search engine to use, Google or AskJeeves. Now when you think about it, Google dominates the Internet and Ask is some website that if possible would be covered in cobwebs. Based on this fact I believe that a website like Google is the definition of what is easy to navigate, simple, and reliable. When you open Google all you see is the name of the website and a empty box. No instructions. No advertising. No complexities. If one can't understand Google's user interface, they honestly shouldn't be allowed to use a computer. It is the easy of the easy to navigate, all it requires is typing in what you want, and it magically brings you to it. To put it simply, Google defined New Media because it encompases all New Media within its database. Google is the Internet.

  1. Brandon,
I completely agree. Google is most definitely the most used, most efficient, and most clear website of all time. It's layout is just so simple that it's genius! There is no clutter, no mess, and no distractions- just "google" in big, bold letters, then tab buttons for whether you want to search the web, images, maps, or more.
I like your ending "Google is the Internet". Kind of bold, but it's true. I don't think anyone, even people who have never touched a computer in their life before, doesn't know what google is. It has even become a verb, as I hear people telling me to "google" something if I ask them a question, like "do you know where I can find a North Face store within 20 miles of my house?". Everything on the internet is on google. It is the ultimate search engine and the ultimate website. Personally, I don't think anything will ever change the world as much as google has (no, not even facebook). Do you?

  2. Brandon,
I agree 100% with what you say about Google and how it is the embodiment of the Internet. Google takes every website and tries to find the best combination between what your searching for and what the Internet has to offer. It is the legitimate idea of New Media also because of the fact that it's interactive as well, making each user feel as if the website is talking to you. If New Media is defined as a website that interacts, then Google not only interacts, but also gives you a response as to what your searching for.
