So we all know we can do almost anything that we can do in the "real world" at the comfort of our home, desk, even bed, as all we need is internet access and the world becomes our oyster. ReplyDeleteAnother perfect example of what the Internet does, if you want it, someone is willing to do it for a price. I can name 100 different types of delivery services, millions of purchasing sites and of course hundreds of social networking and advertising sites. The internet is a way for people to get what they want, and now that people are trusting buying things online, it is only a matter of time before people start getting obsessed and declaring bankruptcy because of Internet Explorer. As for FRESHDIRECT, I know Stop & Shop owns a company called Peapod that does the same thing. Great post Sophie

ReplyDeleteBefore I even got to the end of your post I was thinking the entire time, "What will happen to the grocery stores?" It is funny how now we all think in the same way about how technology may be beneficial but sometimes there are negative aspects that follow. Overall, I am not sure that grocery stores would become completely extinct because as for many other things, there are always those traditional people who would rather physically go to a store rather than shop online. In reality though, the technological field is only growing and people are going to be able to do more and more things online. The point of an online service is to make things easy and quick which is exactly what FreshDirect is all about so I definitely think it is going to succeed in the world today. Many people will find this delivery service useful and effective which is exactly what this company had intended for creating this online service. This is just another example of how industries will try to get ahead through technological means. Going back to the old phrase, the survival of the fittest, whoever uses technology more effectively is most likely to survive.
